You are on the backup site for Chessvariants.com. Any posts, moves, or other changes you make here will not be permanent, because the pages and database from the main site will be backed up here every midnight EST. Additionally, things may not be working right, because this site is also a testbed for newer system software. So, if you are not here to test, develop, or merely read this site, you may want to change .org to .com in the navigation bar and go to the main site.

The Chess Variant Pages

Loonybird

This page contains one or more presets for playing a game online with Game Courier, an online server for playing Chess variants by correspondence.

You can play Christian Freeling's Loonybird HERE.

Due to copyright, I cannot use Christian Freeling's normal piece images. I also do not want to use the images that I may scour from the Alfaerie: Many piece set. Thus, the 7x7 board is displayed as 2 boards, each one with a set of pieces. Whereas the bottom board represents the Carriers, the top board represents the Hunters. Though you have to move both pieces, it has the advantage that it is easier to separate the moves and captures at a glance. The central squares are of slightly different color to center the boards for the eyes as well.

Peg Chess

You can also use this preset to play the Loony Variant of my own Peg Chess. Rules and instructions for operating the preset are found on that page.

This 'user submitted' page is a collaboration between the posting user and the Chess Variant Pages. Registered contributors to the Chess Variant Pages have the ability to post their own works, subject to review and editing by the Chess Variant Pages Editorial Staff.
