just a couple of questions, when you drop a pawn (cannot check king) you get another turn, but you don't say if that pawn can move again, next turn. i am guessing it can't, it would be a bit tough if it could. i don't understand where you say 'X=Star: Moves 1 space diagonally. When it captures, it says where it is and you get another turn.' do you mean 'stays' instead of 'says', meaning after 'star' captures, it cannot move next turn but another piece can? (same with 'i point').

Yes, I mean 'stays' instead of 'says'. And about moving the pawn you just dropped, I am not sure whether or not you should be able to, you can play both ways and see what you like. If you can move it, it should be too tough, because you can't drop pawns in the same column as your other pawns anyways... And about the 'star' or 'point' capturing, you can do the same thing, try both ways and see what you like. I was thinking you would be able to move with it again, but maybe you should be able to. I have never tested this game.. If you can play, you would see what works and what doesn't.

And by the way, what else is missing, is if tiles can be invented with Japanese symbols.

I like to use Japanese Shogi pieces instead of this symbolic pieces, but you could do same way. You can find the correct Japanese symbols to use for pieces under wikipedia:Shogi.

If the preset does not include code to automatically check if you won, you
can type 'won' if you won, 'drawn' if you drawn, and 'resign' if you
want to resign.

In case it can capture to any square, here is one way to make Missile not
too much powerful: It can only capture to a square if it could move to
that square using a move of a Q or C, but still can't capture a piece on
opponent's first row.

It looks like interesting game. Can you tell how to make up the figures and
rings to play this game? I could also program into computer, in Game
Courier or ZiCH it would probably be hard, but in Zillions I don't know
(I don't have it)

I like this game. Is good game. Although I always win when play against the computer, but there should be a Game Information page with rules for this game as well. I can see the rules from playing the applet, but the information page would also be comment, examples, etc.

Yes, one thing makes a difference. Oranges should only be capturable by shopping carts.
OK, I fixed that.

On a different subject, why differentiate between golden and plastic keyboards?
To make it different than chess in the way that both players can start with different army! (Look at the setup of the board)

This page is listed as 8x8 board with 64 squares. But this is just the
index page, it isn't the rules of an actual game. It should be listed as
0x0 board with 0 squares.

There are a couple of points where the wording could be improved. 'If it steps on an opponent piece it is captured and is permanently off the board' seems to imply that the moving piece is captured, rather than the opposing piece. Also, the phrase 'your other Mook' in the description of seeing red could be taken to mean that one must have two Mooks in order to see red.

Two other notes. First, ShoppingCarts should be able to promote on the square where a Rex began, as well as those you list. Second, you only need 71 squares--the last Fire is irrelevant to the play.

OK, I fixed those things. But I didn't remove the last square, because it isn't important to do that. I know the last Fire is irrelevant to the play, but I will keep it in, in case other variants of this game come up (copying rules from other variants) to see what happens and how relevant the extra square is in these variant rules.

I included instructions for using a deck of cards. As the language to use in international tournaments, I would let people give ideas and vote.

I have a few ideas for language to use in international tournaments:
  • Latin
  • Ancient Egyptian
If you have any idea, or would like to vote, you can indicate it as well.

I have recently bought a game of Chinese Army Chess from the internet. It consists of 50 tiles 25 which are red and an equal number of black tiles. I have have a copy of the rules, but I have no clue what the Chinese symbols mean on the pieces. Do you know where I can get pictures of the pieces with identity explanation of the Chinese symbols so that I can figure out what the pieces are and be able to play a game? Thanks for your help. Free Internet Chess Server (FICS) can be connected to without any special
oftware. Connect to freechess.org port 5000. You can also play suicide
chess in here as well as normal chess. I even played against someone in
Alberta, Canada. But that server does not seem to accept backspace, and it
will not repeat what you type in HyperTerminal (even if you enable echo).
Use the other program to connect to it, then it will repeat what you type
and Enter key will work properly as well.

I also play the super famicom game '4 Nin Shogi', I think you flip 4 pawns to see who can go first. Also, I played and one player took forever to play his move, even in super-fast mode.

This is good. You can also play all pieces are one of a different type, for
example Super-Hecatomb-Chess is played with Amazons instead of Queens. I
have played Super-Hecatomb against the Java applet 'Exotic Pieces'. Or
play Extreme-Hecatomb-Chess, where the Queens are replaced with pieces can
move as queen or knight-riders, which are a kind of pieces which are too
much powerful.

Limited Ranged Guards Chess. A game with some limited queens/guards and tanks to shoot opponent. (10x10, Cells: 100) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

Tank and Bomb movements seem too slow for a 10x10 game. Please explain Tank power, apart from pushing: Is it 'rifle' capture?

Yes it is rifle capture, I have fixed the description. Also, the Tank, even though it can only move one space, is powerful in that it can push pieces and can capture from far away. Even the tank and push the bomb.

💡📝(zzo38) A. Black wrote on Sat, Nov 19, 2005 04:40 AM UTC:
The moves of the Tank and Bomb are the same as the Tank and Bomb in the Exotic Pieces applet. And the dropped pieces from moving a pawn do end up in the space the pawn just moved out of.

Actually, it says the first player must set up his/her pieces randomly. But maybe it would be better to have a fixed setup position, or decide randomly where the pieces go before you set up the colors of the squares. See what you think is better.
