You are on the backup site for Any posts, moves, or other changes you make here will not be permanent, because the pages and database from the main site will be backed up here every midnight EST. Additionally, things may not be working right, because this site is also a testbed for newer system software. So, if you are not here to test, develop, or merely read this site, you may want to change .org to .com in the navigation bar and go to the main site.

The Chess Variant Pages

Quake Chess

This page contains one or more presets for playing a game online with Game Courier, an online server for playing Chess variants by correspondence.

These are two presets for my entry to the 45/46 Contest: Quake Chess.

I am not quite sure how to move ranks as a whole, but I have included the script that moves empty square. My advice would be to try different things until something gives the desired results. (I had bad experience with this kinda presets, in Building Chess.)

If anyone knows how to fix this problem once and for all, please do.

The preset for the LB setup uses weird looking pieces (which are weird already.) The piece {R.B} is the white Rook-Bishop, which moves like Bishop and captures like a Rook. The symbol of this piece is a combination between a standing Rook and an up-side-down Bishop.

The strips up and down the playing area are to store captured pieces. Don't move them around if you want to play this variant.
