A couple of days ago, I just finished teaching both of my sons chess using your tutorial. They are 6 and 8 years old. My 8 year-old just beat me.

I like the easy chess concept as a learning device and confidence builder. When playing the game, I have a difficult time following or figuring out where the computer opponent moved last. Is it possible to add a highlight of the last computer move? Similiar to the highlight of legal moves when the human plays. Thanks and keep up the great work!

It gave me 2 options: to move 1 square right, or 2 squares right. When I chose the 2 square option, it put the rook on the other side of the king. Were you trying to castle into, out of, or through a check?

I LIKE IT! IT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT CLAIMS TO BE ... EASY CHESS. IT IS GREAT FOR CHILDREN OR BEGINNER PRACTICE. (could be a little bit more refined but it is a very nice little program)
I think if you can't prevent four move checkmate (Fool's mate or scholar's mate) then you really need to learn how to stop it, else you'll be decimated by human places. Not a bad chess program, man, maybe a little bit easy (it walked into smothered mate) but it is called 'easy chess' for a reason. =]
im giving you a below average because this chess is Quite hard it knows 4 move check mate
well i like it abit but i think it could be inproved oh well its okay
This is a fantastic page, functionality and simplicity roll into one. I wish you could also provide no hassle online chess games versus other players, you could add a donate button or advertise using banners.

the board woulnt let me move when ever i wanted to kill a piece, it just killed me :(
it thought i won in 4 moves when you can only win in 5. huh?!?!
If you come play a game called 'easy chess' and expect anything less, you are terrible. Great resource for the very beginning player (me) who is still thinking one move at a time. I'm actually learning something here, and am winning more than losing. I like the 'back' feature, It gives me a good chance to analyze the situation as a whole and not just the piece I am concentrating on.

This is an excellent easy program to build up confidence. One needs the experience of winning to realise that one can prevail - however low level the achievement happens to be.

First of all it wasn't easy it was more college level and should be brought down to about seventh grade level or should have a level choosing, but nethertheless it was entertaining.
It is good, but little confusing, cause you don’t know what the opponent moved, also not showing winner of the game
Congratulations on a good program/game. I do agree with the last commenter that it is difficult to see where the computer oponent moves. (it might be good to make it flash three times before moving it to its new location). I used the back key to see the 'before and after' of the computer's move, but I found that the computer picked a different move every time!
It's kinda confusing because you can't tell where the opponenet moved.
How do you go back more than once? the best!!!!

It is great for my six years old brother because the opponent plays easy but I would prefer if you will show where the computer went.
Fantastic. Only one suggested improvement - slow down / show the opponent moves - it can be difficult to see where they go.

I was looking for an easy online version so my 5-yr old could learn (he is just starting). This one is great for this purpose. Shows where the pieces can move, has an 'undo' key and plays at an easy level, a crucial feature for a young beginner. No wonder it rates at the top of the Google search.

a search for 'easy chess' brought up this game and it delivered just that, a nice easy game of chess.
The 'b' is wonderful for learning from your mistakes!
I really like the 'b' to move back one command. This is a great learning tool! I love to see all my stupid mistakes and fix them.

So you could make many kings, make invalid pieces, invalid colors, etc., and the program would to what it would normally do as if the memory was changed directly with no error checking. Just to be able to try out the program...
averge skill for me, though when the comupter thinks its going to loose im sure it resets the game
