Game Courier supports many different games. Here is one picked at random:
Gustavian Cannonrider Chess - Cannonriders and regular pieces on a Gustavian (68 squares) board. Cannonriders move differently depending on square colour.

Maya Chess

If you had a Java-capable browser, you could play Maya Chess here.
Keys "s"=save "l"=load "b"=back once

Pieces (but not pawns or kings) move according to their supporting units. Unmoved supporting units do not transfer power. I allowed castling if the rook can move as a rook. There are groups and a newsletter in India.

The inventor is Raja Ravisekhar, India's great chess master and teacher.

Chess Variants

These are simple illustrations rather than strong opponents.
