Herd

February 2000, S. Sirotkin sent a chess variant, called Herd. He wrote:

This game is experience to collect together some jumping pieces. It is imperfectly. Later I want to find more interesting variant.


Opening setup Herd

This two player game is played on a board of 7 by 7 squares.

Each player has 1 King, 2 Knights, 2 Camels, 2 Bisons, and 7 Pawns.

Opening setup:

White: King d1; Knight a1, g1; Camel b1, f1; Bison c1, e1; Pawn a2, b2, c2, d2, e2, f2, g2.

Black: King d7; Knight a7, g7; Camel b7, f7; Bison c7, e7; Pawn a6, b6, c6, d6, e6, f6, g6.
