The rook knight compound does not appear in omega chess you must have confused with the champion of omega chess which jumps to the second diagonal square or jumps to the second orthogonal or moves one orthogonally. Not the rook knight compound under the same name

How about you make even another brouhaha variant in which your bishop dabbaba piece the cleric is replaced with the abbot which jumps to the second diagonal case or moves to the first diagonal case, or jumps exactly two orthogonally. It would still reach only half but reduces some of the favor people would have with this ove the bishop this also camfrom ralph betza's classic chess with different armies but i think this introduces another leaper the alfil so now all the new pieces will not copy orthodox moves and people won't favor the cleric over the bishop. Why not call it ruckus?

you're bishop is too strong! how about having either a two square bishop plus crab or four square bishop plus lame barc or crab barc would probably be better being weaker than a crab after all the meticulous masher's bishop was a four square bishop plus lame dabbaba so this should be mid strength but then again if you had the four square bishop plus lame crab the army would be devoid of leapers

Andy Maxson wrote on Sat, Feb 10, 2007 03:09 AM UTC:Excellent ★★★★★
This game sounds really fun! the guards make it very dynamic and exciting along with the wizard it's like ultima meets thronschach meets rennchess. I at first actually hated ultima! but when i started liking it i then favored rococo as an alternative ultima. and then i favored maxima now i like both of them. its like a father having two sons that do not get along. beacause rococo goes ont hte similar ways of moving but different ways of capturing path where as maxima goes down the optimizing ultima. but it has however lost on thing that ultima had the similar ways of moving. but i like the displacing pieces. and tha the king can move as a knight that treats the bord as if it was cylindrically and the mage moving as the griffon but what about tthe bottom squares how do those figure in with the cylinder. This decreases the vulnerability of the king opposed to other royal knights and the bare king rule is also very interesting and you can not fortresed as in orthodox chess. but what about stalemate? is that a win? anyway it is ALMOST completely drawless

i really like this game it has crowned rooks and chancellors (concubines) on a 14 by 10 board. i also enjoy the pice variety and it feels like the rutland rooks hold everything together bridging the gap between the rooks and the queens. and it feels like now the knights are more like pawns and as chess was a battle this is war! i love especially the stalemate loses for the mating player. and it also feels as if someone was careless enough they chould be punished and lose beacause stalemate is not a draw. but i also think though they should add in crowned bishops but never mind though the new pieces favor orthogonal moves. Maybe there could be an even bigger variant with crowned knights rutland's chess pieces and cardinals. do the rooks promote to crowned rooks?

Andy Maxson wrote on Sat, Feb 10, 2007 06:16 PM UTC:Excellent ★★★★★
i love this game. it has so many strong pieces. I think i have actually won a game. the cavalier reduces the gryphon's blockability. the duke does moreso with the aanca. The foxes defend the king well. If the pawn underpromotes to fox and it reaches the end rank does it become a guard. the general threatens mat however which makes it very strong. if you combined all of the pieces in rennchess it would control three ranks and files, move as a camel, squirrel,l duke, bishop, cavalier, and rook and would be worth three queens now imagine if there were korean lions (moves as a queen but must jump a piece in order to move) and nightriders in the game the yitong (a unifucation of all pieces in the game into one) would now be worth as musch as FOUR queens. i think thi monter of a piece a unifucation of all rennchess pieces would be able check mate a king by itself! without the edge of the board and it wouldn't be very hard to either. and with the lion move (korean lion) interpositon would be useless. Also, this piece i think could checkmate a QUEEN by itself i think. and if it was in the center of an empty 7 by 7 board it would reach every square

could mir chess 36 fight in chess with different armies? it would be interesting To see them against the colorbound clobberers or the remarkable rookies though their setup wouldn't add any thing to their army unlike in regular mir 36 beacause it is specifically oriented about the opponent's cannons but against chess with different armies it would become pretty obsolete unless against against an experimental army with cannons like the spacious cannoneers. the queen is weak but I don't know about their cannons they would definately help. and since the cannons are worth about half a bishop two would be a bishop's worth so i think it would work with the queen being worth a rook. and the elephants are worth about a bishop maybe less and the cannons may be more it should balance out,

This game is really fun to play and the crowned linepiece queen an interesting idea. but why have marshalls in bishopheavy chess and cardinals in rookheavy chess This is by far the one of the easiest to understand and most interesting of your new games. I however prefer ryuma or dragon horse for primate and ryou or dragon king for chatelaine mainly i'm not much of an english terminologist. Anyway this is readily accessable for me I have tried both games and loved them both however. even though rookheavy seems the more powerful game none of the pieces are worth more than a queen!

your frog is an example of an amphibian which is a compound of two pieces which has more range than it's components. another example would be the governor a compound of of the raumschach unicorn and bishop. even another would be the silver general a compound of japanese pawn or as you call it, the point and ferz. maybe you should make an article on amphibians!

This game looks really cool so does clash of civilizations chess and all it's variants. how about airplane chess? there is a reasonably weak applet to play it on ed friedlander's site or here. And by the way, Jeremy the cobra moves as a rook it is more vunerable than the wall of ganymede chess but has more capture power. Another piece which is related to it is the dev from koksal karakus' giant chess which moves as a wazir but all squares must be threatened for it to be captured. another are sultans pieces from charles gilman's sultans elephant chess but cannot move to part full super squares

This game looks really cool! The only thing cooler would be adding squirrels behind rooks and adding quang trung rooks and shifting the setup one rank forwards so there would still be redeployment space. The squirrels would add more leaping power and the quang trung rooks which capture by leaping over a piece as in checkers but quang trung rooks can only capture one piece in a move. The quang trung rooks could ignore defended pieces and would make the game more interesting. The quang trung rooks would be below zebras. There could also be renn cavaliers below quintesences but that would be wishful thinking

this looks interesting with crooked bishops replacing the monstrous cavaliers. However the crooked bishop's move is not related to any sort of mideastern piece, the cavalier was related to the well known gryphon. Maybe you could add renn cavaliers instead of the mideast cavaliers and guards a fusion of the ferz and wazir or maybe replace the queen with the mideast cavalier or as ed friedlander calls it the godzilla and and replace the godzillas that flank the king and queen with queens. maybe this variant i propose could face hawaiian chess

Where i got the panther name was the exotic pieces applet. I like the
waffle beacause

be on par with chess it is just a little to weak so maybe if there was an
added weak piece it could battle chess. But anyway shatranj variants are

this game might be neat with all the super pieces, however, it gets boring with all the displacers so i have my own super pieces, Imperial lion: moves as queen or lion. Stampede: moves as zebrarider, camerider, or knightrider, teaching king: moves as queen or 3-step lion: can make three consecutive king moves can jump over occupied squares when doing this. Dreagon moves as queen to empty squares one square moves take all adjacent enemy pieces destroyer: moves rook cannon or quang trung rook. imperial dragon: moves as king, ski queen (as queen but must go at least two squares may jump first and continue in same direction though) or quang trung rook. pushme pullyu moves as queen but takes by approach and withdrawal. Longleaper as queen but captures as in draughts. Bomber as queen but captures by landing just beyond pieces it may jump a continuous line of enemy pieces and capture all in that line cannot jump unconnected enemy pieces the reverse of the style of jumping the longleaper uses to capture. Though i admire your idea, try more pieces that can capture in different ways.
