I'm the inventor of this game. I have recently been playtesting it a bit, and I realized that there was an inherent advantage to the White player in this game. I have concluded that this comes from the cramped space following the initial move, and though there are initially four legal first moves, whatever Black chooses will greatly reduce his freedom for your second move, and if played right, White gains the upper hand early on. I've tried some minor variations to see if they would help, but the simplest and most significant change is merely adjusting the board size with two extra squares between the players, making the board 1x23. This alone gives the first player much more freedom. Now the game is slightly slanted for Black, but I feel this is more acceptable, and I am looking at piece moves to perhaps achieve better balance.
