I added a new piece, the Dragonet, as a variant to my Pioneer Chess.
It can create new tactical themes. It's a simple and straightforward
piece, I think.

The Dragonet ('little dragon') flies to any empty square, of the same colour, in any direction. It captures an enemy piece by landing immediately beyond its victim. The Dragonet's value is 4, i.e. light piece + pawn (estimate). It's a colourbound modification, by me, of Schmittberger's Airplane.

Mats: Thanks for the corrections to my analysis.

Sam, you forget that the Adjutant is a sliding piece. 1.h4 is no mating
threat because black can simply block the check by playing f7-f6, or
placing a bishop in between, for instance. (However, the position you give,
RANBQKBNAR, won't work with Adjutants anyway while the pawns on the b and
i files can be immediately captured by the Adjutants.)
