I have updated the description. As for the diagram, I am struggling to draw it with the tools provided.

Why does it take so long to get a game published? My game description is complete.

Florin Lupusoru wrote on Tue, Apr 11, 2023 08:51 AM UTC in reply to Carlos Cetina from Wed Mar 29 01:03 PM:

Thank you so much for the diagram. I really didn't know how to do it. I'll come back soon with an updated version of the rules for the game.

Florin Lupusoru wrote on Wed, Apr 12, 2023 05:15 AM UTC:

I hope the editors are happy with the modified rules of this game. I am not expecting this game to be published because it is still very controversial. Just for the record, when I posted it on several online forums, people's reaction convinced me that it would be very hard to get such a game published. Some of the rules can still be changed, of course, but the idea is to keep the things that would make this game unique. And who knows, people may even like it.

I hope the rules of this game do make sense. I am still trying to figure out whether to allow Watchers be flipped on their starting position. That may be a possibility, but would create some disadvantage for the Pawns. That could be solved, however, by allowing them to jump on the first move to an empty square in the Pawn's starting position. Let's see what people think about this possibility. I might need some help with drawing the diagram and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have just finished making all the suggested adjustments. As for the board, I have tried to make a 11x11 board but I only get a 11x5 board. How do I change that?

Florin Lupusoru wrote on Tue, Apr 18, 2023 11:15 AM UTC:

Just updated the rules and the diagram. I only need to figure out how to add a neutral color to the Watchers and the Peacemaker.

Florin Lupusoru wrote on Tue, Apr 18, 2023 04:57 PM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from 12:31 PM:

I had a look at the set you suggested but I think it would be great if we could update the set we already have with some custom neutral figures. Since this game is called Celestial Chess we could make some angel looking figures with wings. For example, the Watchers could be red, and the Peacemaker yellow, or grey if you prefer it. Who knows, some people may like this game and feel the need to continue using neutral pieces in their future games. But you don't have to worry about making perfect figures. Anything simpler will work as well.
As for the symbol representing the Heavy Knights, that could be changed. No problem. Thanks a lot!

Ok. Just updated the diagram with the Automatic set. Please let me know if there is anything else that needs to be revised/changed. Looking at the diagram I realised that Peacemakers could come to a King very close and very fast, and I had to change the winning rules. What do you think? Could giving Peacemakers the power to immobilize nearby pieces be a good option?

Thank you very much. I have updated the image trying both nqueen and nchecker. I think the last one looks better.

I believe this game might be ready for publishing. Please let me know if there is anything else that still needs to be worked on.

Hope this game makes sense. I still have to figure out the game dynamics and if there is anything that needs to be changed/improved. Latter on I will publish a real example diagram and analyse some of the possible moves and territory value counting.

Please let me know if the updated rules meet your requirements. It's been a long time.

I understand that this is a volunteers based community but why is taking so long for a reply? I am willing to help myself if given a chance. Maybe we can invent something that would speed up the process.

I think I just gonna give up. I don't understand you guys. Why is taking so long? I know, everyone is busy, but why don't we allow games to be published first on a forum, or something, where people can make suggestions, in order to speed up the process?

Thanks. That gives me hope. I am also working on a chess variant for mathematicians called Mathematicess. That is much more complicated but still original. I only want to publish original stuff.

Thanks. Good point. I'll make the necessary adjustments.

Believe it or not, the rules for this game are very simple. But I wanted to make memorising openings no longer feasible, and also take some advantage computers have against humans.

Before drawing my diagram, I was wondering what would be the best pieces to use for peasants, guards, and treasurers. For the rest I will just use the standard chess pieces.

Thanks again for your suggestions. Just made the required changes. There is only one thing I have to disagree with. That is about the Treasurers and how they move. Ok. I have removed the "immobilisation" stuff to keep it simple. But I have created the Treasurers to add chaos and unpredictability on the board. That's why, I think is better to keep the way they move as described above.

An example diagram is ready for you and the points calculation for a territory. I'll do latter on some more calculations for you for the remaining territories.

I hope the updated rules do make sense. The only complaint I still have is that I couldn't find a piece that could properly represent the Treasurer. Apart from that, if there is anything else that still needs to be worked on, please let me know.

I wanted to keep this game simple, and challenging, because I believe that the main pushback against new chess variants are the exotic pieces with exotic and confusing moves. I believe that this game will bring the chess game to perfection. So, what do you think about it?

Florin Lupusoru wrote on Sun, Nov 5, 2023 03:25 AM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from Sat Nov 4 04:08 PM:

If you watched some historical battles you should know that sometimes the centre needs to be reinforced with fresh troupes. That was the idea behind the new promotion rules. It's better to leave to the players more options and let them decide whether a rule is useless or not.
