Is it just me or can white force the pawn promotion of the pawn furthest from the most convex pawn? Seems white has quite an advantage here.

Do you mean the cocave Rook's Pawn? If so, Il'll have to examine that in more detail, but remember that while White it moveing that Pawn forward Black can get a Knight ready to capture it on promotion. If not, please clarify which Pawn you mean.
