As the second Game Courier Tournament begins to draw to a close, it is time
to start thinking about the next tournament. The multi-variant tournaments
are proving to be a good way to draw attention to new variants. So I
expect I will do another sometime soon. But there has also been talk about
doing a tournament for a single game or some related games. For example, we
could do a Xiang Qi tournament, a Shogi tournament, or a Shogi variants
tournament. One of these might draw in people who are not so interested in
multivariant tournaments and help give those who are more experience at
some of the classic Chess variants. Also, a single variant tournament
could be started more quickly, since it wouldn't require a prolonged game
selection process. So I'm thinking it might be good to start a single
variant tournament after, say, a couple weeks for letting people sign up,
and in the meantime get started on the longer process of selecting games
for a multivariant tournament. Any thoughts or opinions?
