You are on the backup site for Chessvariants.com. Any posts, moves, or other changes you make here will not be permanent, because the pages and database from the main site will be backed up here every midnight EST. Additionally, things may not be working right, because this site is also a testbed for newer system software. So, if you are not here to test, develop, or merely read this site, you may want to change .org to .com in the navigation bar and go to the main site.
Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Edge do not support Java. Internet Explorer and Safari should still support it. Besides that, recent versions of Java will block this script unless you add https://www.chessvariants.com to your Java exceptions list. You should find this in the Security tab of your Java control panel.
Four-Handed Chess III
Chess III was supposedly a hit at Gen Con a few years back.
Win by capturing the last king.
Units belonging to a player in checkmate cannot be taken
but will give check until the king is taken. I think
that the latter can cause
some contradictions but these are rare. If you are in
checkmate or otherwise cannot move, then
your turn passes.
Capturing the king makes the starting squares vanish.
I have all
promotions as queens.
These are simple illustrations rather than strong opponents.
