This game is great for learning to play better Chess. Having the ability to take back your last move allows you see how your moves may affect your opponent's next moves. Really good players would obviously be bored, but 'Easy Chess' plays like a wonderful teaching tool - one of the best I've seen. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to improve their game.

I think this is an excellent game to get the little ones started. My 5 year old son saw the chess game at home and wanted to learn and this is what I found. Great visual for him to show him what moves he can make and choose from. Fantastic....thank you!

I want my 6yo son to use this, and I think it could use the following
addition:
when the computer plays the other player doesn't know what he did... you
should signal it in some way (blinking the two squares that took part)

other than that, really great, thanks!

I think everyone should keep in mind the line below the game:
'These are simple illustrations rather than strong opponents.'

The beauty of this applet is Ed's extension of it to so many variants.

was fun, my only complaint would be that i am left disheartened after losing at a difficulty level that was intended for 6 year olds.

It is pretty well done. It seems a little bit on the easy side; however, I only played a couple games against it. Overall, a pretty neat item.

He made it not for training, it's for illustrate 'normal' chess on his chess variants applets site, and it's reason for calling it 'easy'.

This is WAY to hard. It is almost impossible to win, even the best chess player couldn't beat it.

Very good for teaching children to play.
The computer pieces move so fast you have to search for 'what happened'.
Just indicate some way the last piece that the computer moved.(such as
slight illumination or discoloration)
Also have a 'new game button'

Also when the game is won the program does nothing. It needs to at least
blink to celebrate.

Haven't played in years... the game let me win... I think it is trying to take my money.. thanks for the boost.. Now I am going to lead a class of middle schoolers tomorrow in a new chess club... Wish me luck!

It's great for beginners like me, however, it would be better if you had a
'back' option to return to see how and why a specific move was made
either by yourself or the computer opponent. Also, if you could explain
options of possible moves I could have made once I've made my move, that
would be helpful.
