I have made some little changes to the text hoping it is more clear now, and yes, the cannons are oly used to denote the sides, so if the pleyers are facing each other the cannons can be omited, but if they are not the cannons become very important.

Lastly, yes, it is not really a shogi variant, but i'm trying to develop a new variant that better captures the essence of chess.

I did not understand it from the text on this page, but reading the linked description of Bushi Shogi, I think I now understand it.  I don't think the cannons actually play any role, except to denote the two sides.  A sample game on this page would be helpful.

It would be very hard to call this a chess variant, or even a shogi variant, IMO.

This page has external images. Would you please replace them with local images? There is now a new file manager you may use to upload and keep track of your graphic images.

Also, this game is too dissimilar from other Chess variants for me to follow the rules. Would someone else take a look at this game and tell me whether you understand it?
