You are on the backup site for Any posts, moves, or other changes you make here will not be permanent, because the pages and database from the main site will be backed up here every midnight EST. Additionally, things may not be working right, because this site is also a testbed for newer system software. I uploaded a new version of the betza.js script (so clear your browser cache!) with two minor fixes:

1) The width of the 'name' column in the piece table is now limited to 120 pixels. This to cure a problem in the Scalable diagram Editor, where due to some ridiculously long names of Alfaerie pieces the table became so wide that the vertical scroll of the table was no longer on screen, on my lapotp. And the page as a whole did not get a horizontal scroll in FireFox to get it in view. (Probably because the table is created by JavaScript after loading.) Which made it pretty much unusable. Now it just breaks long names over multiple lines.

2) It does not consider any of the diagrams on a page initially as the 'active' one. So that the first click on any diagram will activate it, and switch the square colors from the startShade to the darkShade.

Quick Markdown Guide

By default, new comments may be entered as Markdown, simple markup syntax designed to be readable and not look like markup. Comments stored as Markdown will be converted to HTML by Parsedown before displaying them. This follows the Github Flavored Markdown Spec with support for Markdown Extra. For a good overview of Markdown in general, check out the Markdown Guide. Here is a quick comparison of some commonly used Markdown with the rendered result:

Top level header: <H1>

Block quote

Second paragraph in block quote

First Paragraph of response. Italics, bold, and bold italics.

Second Paragraph after blank line. Here is some HTML code mixed in with the Markdown, and here is the same <U>HTML code</U> enclosed by backticks.

Secondary Header: <H2>

  • Unordered list item
  • Second unordered list item
  • New unordered list
    • Nested list item

Third Level header <H3>

  1. An ordered list item.
  2. A second ordered list item with the same number.
  3. A third ordered list item.
