Eric Angelini mentioned to me the following variant, that he plays with a friend Daniel:

The game is played with the same array, board, pieces, and (most) rules as in normal chess, but

If black castles long, black wins the game.
If white can make sure that black can never castle long, then white wins the game. E.g., white wins as soon as the black king moves without castling long, etc.
