25 Nov 2001None Sounds like a rotary cutter might have been a better tool. I've never used one, but if anyone has the opportunity to try one out, please let us know. I know whatever tool is used, it must be very, very sharp, to avoid distorting the rubber backing as the cut is made. --DH
24 Nov 2001None I was talking to my wife about this (No, she doesn't even know how to play chess, but I listen to her quilting plans, so it's a fair trade) and she suggested using a rotary cutter to cut the vinyl. (For the uninitiated, a rotary cutter is used by quilters to cut fabric, sometimes several layers, in very straight lines, guided by a straightedge. It resembles a VERY sharp pizza cutter.) I haven't tried it, but it sounds like it might work. - JCL
