'There was a young man in Rome, that was very much like Augustus Caesar;
Augustus took knowledge of it and sent for the man, and asked him, ''Was your
mother never at Rome?'' He answered, ''No, sir; but my father was.''
--Francis Bacon ///// There is previous thread ''Proliferation'' and
talk on subjective rules-sets gotten out of hand like a disease elsewhere.
Hence ''Proliferation9'' arbitrarily numbered. Let's introduce with
related topic 'Trading Games'. Trading games and proliferation are like
the proverbial Horse and Carriage, they go together now. Trading games, heavy duty. In one sense
trading games is oxymoron in that no bloke wants another's CV. Trading
games is code word, or euphemism, within that minuscule subculture,
numbering 50 to 199 individuals worldwide, having and then actually playing
their very own CV -- optimisitically raising art to starter without falter.
It is zero sum, trading games, with rational mutual solution. You remember
the ABCD rectangular events-slot-chart of outcomes, and avoiding the death
of the prisoner, or the wreck of the ship, or the sepoy with the apple
crammed down his throat. Here are several interpretrations in follow-up of one underpinning of proliferation, trading games.

Trading games to aficionados may mean in game theoretic terms to avert catastrophe: (I) I am skeptical of your CV, but
I will stand to play it if you play mine too (standard etiquette). (II)
Cynical interpretation. Your CV stinks to high heaven but I will tolerate
one go of it because I am focussed on mine, or rather my latest. I won't
say that your game makes me sick since you are to be mutual about mine.
(III) Interpretation of illegality. Your CV actually infringes intellectual
property of others, by traditional definition and practice, in Rules or
Pieces, within a field that is only so actionable without commerciality.
Therefore, it does not matter, I'll play the sucker. Pshah. Trading games or
jibes: jeepers creepers be vigilant. Trading games: spading flames: raiding claims: grading fames: fading names: braiding dames: sta(t)ing aims: wai(t)ing shames; aiding lames: shading frames.

Let me add 1 more category to your motives for swapping games, George.
Being something of a chicken but not wanting to play only my own games, I
swap. So I play a game of mine, something familiar and comfortable, and
often I play something I would not have volunteered to play, a little
adventure, and the other guy gets to do the same. I consider it a win-win
situation. ;-)

By the way, in reference to 'NextChess', I've accepted a game of
Mammoth Chess. I have a question. I'm playing a few games that use the
specific piece, but they are other 'large' variants, not Mammoth. Does
playing games that feature the piece but are not the specific game count?
I've also got a game of Wildebeest going, which I believe is the second of
the 3 games you named for this year. ... Oops, Wildebeest is 2013. Oh,
well. I am playing 3 games on the list, even if the years are 2009, 2013,
and 2014.
