An HTML file would be easier to read. Your text file doesn't wordwrap in
my browser, and I don't like to read a page by sliding a horizontal
scroll bar left and right.

Again, Should 'check the King' be discouraging sometimes?. Tell about
tests of the game play.

Roberto Lavieri wrote on Thu, Oct 30, 2003 01:51 PM UTC:
No, I were wrong. If I check the enemy King and it impostorizes a Knight
(captured to me previously), by example, then I can drop the Knight in the
next turn, isn't it?.
If that's the case, it is not discouraging check the enemy King, but it
would be a bad idea scape of the check impostorizing anything, unless it
is not other alternative.

<html><font color='royalblue'>Hello Roberto,<br><br>What I gather you are asking is if you could 'drop' the captured knight after it is used to 'Imposterize' the opponent's Checked King. The answer is yes, the Knight is 'dropped' but not by you. The penalty for using the 'Impostor' option is you in-turn have to give back your oppoenent's captured piece...then THEY 'drop' it on the board to any (except for a square that would place the King in check again) of their choosing. I've tested this game offline and it works well. <br><br>Unfortunately, when explained it tends to <i>sound</i> more complex than it really is. <br><br>I appreciate any questions, comments, or suggestions. <br><br><center><font color='#FF00FF'>Thanks,<br>   ~ Laila</center></html>

<html><font color='royalblue'>Hi Tony,<br><br>  <b><i>Imposter Chess</b></i> is currently not a playable game online. I've attempted numerous times to create a proper Game Courier Preset for it so others could play. Unfortunately, I'm encountering at least one error; If I'm playing White vs. Black and during the game, White's Bishop tries to take Black's Knight, both the White Bishop AND Black Knight <i>disappear</i> off the board! This is <u>not</u> what it should be.<br><br>  Also, in tests on the Courier, I have noticed that during gameplay, pieces that I've previously moved tend to <i>vanish</i> without any capture initiated.<br><br>  Is there something in the form I missed? I'm on WebTV Plus, is this type of internet connection compatible with the Courier?<br><br><center>Any information is greatly appreciated.<br><br><font color='#FF00FF'><b>Thanks,<br>~ Laila</b></center></html>

I don't think it is a matter of Imposter Chess being unplayable online. It
seems to be simply a matter of not yet understanding how to make
complicated moves with Game Courier.

Although I have never tested Game Courier on WebTV Plus, I have no reason
to expect that Game Courier would be incompatible with it. Nearly
everything that Game Courier does is done on the server-side. The few
things it uses client-side JavaScript for are inessential, and Game
Courier should work perfectly well without JavaScript even running. The
only incompatibility I can imagine is if WebTV does not properly display
some methods of rendering the board. In that case, I would recommend
switching to a method that it would render properly.
